About my Blog

In the process of teaching, developing of curriculum is a long-term and proactive effort. To complement the educational development trend in the 21st century, the Ministry of Education has launched the "Education Development Master Plan (2006-2010)" and one of the objectives of this master plan is to develop a set of a stable curriculum. To achieve this goal, the Curriculum Development Division has revised the curriculum of various subjects and launched the "primary standard curriculum" or better known as "Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah". (KSSR). The standard curriculum for primary school is arranged in modules and emphasize on the holistic of the content and to avoid being too academical, at the same time do not burdening the students in learning. This course has started to be implemented this year (2011) nationwide.

The ultimate objective of the "Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah Bahasa Cina” is to enable students to lay a good foundation of language, to fully master the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing; so as to enable students to use Chinese language to learn, to think, to communicate with formal Chinese language, to process information, to write and to develop good language learning habits. At the same time, allows students to cultivate aesthetic taste and patriotism in the process of learning Chinese language.

The content of Chinese language course is built on mastering the language skill, combined with fun learning activities, utilising basic language knowledge and appropriate teaching materials to achieve the course objectives. Language skills include four aspects that is listening, speaking, reading and writing. Upon fully mastering the language skills, the use of language in interpersonal relationships, information processing and aesthetic appreciation capability can be enhanced. The "Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah Bahasa Cina” will be implemented in three stages. The first stage is in standard 1 and standard 2. In this stage, students must learn to know about 1,800 Chinese characters, cultivate reading habit and enjoy reading. The new curriculum also focuses on listening and cultivating the listening skill. The course also include the learning of listening skill so that students are able to listen and comprehend various genres, able to listen and think at the same time, able to capture the key contents and ideas of the article. In order not to become boring in the language lessons, the new curriculum has included some interesting language learning activities. Besides learning language, students also learn to recite Tang poems, solve words puzzles, reading short stories and these will enable the students to learn Chinese language at ease and also feel the joy of learning.


In view that the new curriculum is lively, I have included in my blog some very lively materials to facilitate teachers and parents to use as a reference. I hope with the implementation of this new curriculum, it will change the previous spoon-feeding method of teaching so that our children will love to learn and enjoy schooling.


Why Stories, Poems and Passages are collected in my blog ?


Reading is to collect and process information, to understand the world and is an important way to develop thinking process. Reading also allows people to seek knowledge so that people can be wiser. Knowledge can broaden people's horizons and to change the  thinking path. Therefore, the reading habit should be cultivated since young to enable students to learn from different perspectives to enrich learning.

Teaching method on reading should be flexible dependence on the different teaching materials used. For example when reading short essay, focus should be on reading, practice and performing. When teaching poem, emphasis should be on appreciation and recital; when teaching drama it should focus on appreciation, dialogue and performing. "Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR) Bahasa Cina" places great emphasis on broadening the teaching. This teaching plan is designed for all students and let the students learn and acquire knowledge and experience through various challenging activities, so as to meet the individual's thirst for knowledge, to be independent and at the same time helping each other and able to develop leadership talent. Broadening teaching can be augmented by extensive reading and carried out through games and other activities.

In teaching the reading skill in "KSSR Bahasa Cina", it requires students to read and appreciate poetry, to understand its key idea, to be imaginative, to experience the emotional aspect, to appreciate the beauty of language, and to read and understand the story, to analyze the roles, the development of the story and the moral.

In order to facilitate teachers and parents to obtain materials for teaching, I have collected in my blog some stories, passages and poems. I have also prepared teaching plans as reference to teachers. In the stories collected in my blog, I have prepared some questions for teachers and parents to serve as teaching materials for teaching the listening and reading skills. Some interesting videos are also included to make learning interest and full of fun.  Hope that these materials can be of help in your teaching.




在教育的过程中,课程制订是一项需长期积极进行的工作。为配合21世纪教育发展的趋势,教育部推出《教育发展大蓝图(2006-2010年)》,《大蓝图》的其中一个目 标是制定一套具稳定性的课程。为达致此目标,课程发展司重新修订各科课程,并推出小学标准课程。小学各科目的课程标准皆以模组为形式,着重内容的整体性,避免过于学术性,同时不给学生带来学习负担。而此课程也于今年(2011年)在全国开始实行。


《小学华文课程标准》的总目标在于让学生打好语文基础,充分掌握听、说、读、写的技能;使学生能应用华文来学习、思考,能以规范的华文来交际、处理信息和写作,并养成良好的语文学习习惯。同时也让学生在学习语文的过程中,培养审美情趣和爱国情操。

华文课程内容以掌握语文技能为基础,同时结合具趣味性的语文活动,借助基本的语文知识,适当的教材来达致课程目标。语文技能包括听、说、读、写四个方面,只有充分掌握语文技能,才能提升语文应用在人际关系、信息处理和美学鉴赏等方面的能力。《小学华文课程标准》以三个阶段进行。第一学段为一、二年级的学生。在此学段的学生必须能识约1800个汉字,并且培养喜爱阅读,也能感受阅读的乐趣。新课程也着重于聆听,并培养学生有聆听的能力,所以在课程中也加入听说的技能,那就是学生能听读与理解各类体裁的篇章,能边听边记边想,抓住文章的主要内容和中心思想。为了不使语文课沦为沉闷,在新课程中也加入了趣味语文。学生能在学习语文的同时,也能背诵唐诗,猜谜,朗读小故事,这不仅能让学生轻松地学习华文,同时也感受了学习的乐趣。

有鉴于新课程的活泼性,故我在我的部落各里准备了一些活泼的教材,以方便老师、家长取为参考、应用。希望新课程的实行,能改变过去填鸭式的教学,让我们的孩子能热爱学习,快乐上学。愿与大家共勉。





收录故事、唐诗及短文的目的


阅读是收集处理信息、认识世界、拓展思路的重要途径。阅读能让求知的人从中获知,让无知的人变得有知。知识能开阔人的视野,改变思维习惯。故此,从小培养学生的阅读习惯,就能让学生从不同的角度为学习提供养分。

阅读教学应视教材的不同而灵活应用不同的教学法。如教导短文应注重阅读、练习、表演;教导诗歌应 注重欣赏和吟诵;教导话剧则应注重欣赏、阅读和表演。《小学华文课程标准》十分注重增广教学。它是为所有学生而设的教学计划,让学生通过各种富有挑战性的活动汲取经验和知识,以满足个人的求知欲,并从中培养自立又互助的精神和能力,发展领导才华。增广教学可以通过增广阅读、游戏等活动来进行。在《小学华文课程标准》中的阅读教学技能里,其中要求学生能阅读与欣赏诗歌,理解其中心思想,展开想象,获得情感体验,感受语言的优美,及阅读与理解故事,分析故事中的角色、情节发展和教育意义。

为了让老师及家长们能获取材料作为增广教学,我在我的部落各里收录了一些故事及短文,我也在短文中预备了教学计划以供老师们参考应用。在我的收录故事部分里,我也准备了问题以供老师及家长作为听读教学的材料此外,一些活泼有趣的录影也供大家参考,以增加学习的乐趣。希望这些材料能对你们的教学有所帮助。
